World Cup 2011 : West Indies vs Bangladesh...

West Indies against Bangladesh at Mirpur was expected to be a close encounter, as both the teams needed a win to consolidate progress to next stage.
Shakib Ul Hasan won the toss, much to the roar of the crowd & elected to bat. Having defeated Ireland last week in a low scoring thriller, Bangladesh were expected to stretch the Windies attack. However, the din in the stadium simply vanished into a hushed silence, as the 3rd delivery of the match from Roach, was nicked by Tamim to Sammy in the 2nd slip for a duck. This kind of let the cat amongst the pigeons, as the Bangladeshi batsmen went one after the other, in harakiri. barring Junaid Siddique, who made 25 & Ashraful who made 11, no one reached double figures. In a mere 18.5 overs, the hosts were all out for a shameful 58. Lowest total ever by a  Full Member nation in the World Cup. The Windies needed the services of only three bowlers, Roach who took 3 for 19, Benn who took 4 for 18 & Captain Sammy who chipped in with 3 for 21.

In reply, the Windies wrapped up the proceedings in 12.2 overs, losing one wicket, that of Devon Smith. Gayle hit a breezy 37 off 36 deliveries to complete the mis - match.
With England's loss to Ireland, the winner of this match would be quite firmly placed to reach the quarterfinals.

Man of the Match : Kemar Roach for his fiery 3 for 19 in just 6 overs. His 2nd award in successive matches.
