World Cup 2011 : New Zealand vs Zimbabwe...

New Zealand against Zimbabwe at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmadabad.
Zimbabwe won the toss & elected to bat, but got off to a disastrous start, losing Coventry in the 2nd over run out by Bennett, with just 2 runs on the board. They never recovered from this & wickets tumbled one after the other. In the 15th over, they were reduced to a miserable 46 for 5, with only opener Taylor valiantly fighting from one end. Some late order fightback by Utseya, Cremer, Lamb & Price took the score past 150, & finally it was 162 all out in the 47th over. Taylor top scored with 44. For the Kiwis, Southee picked up 3 wickets for 29 runs, while, Mills & Vettori scalped 2 each.

In reply, openers, Guptill & McCullum, batted cautiously initially to ensure, there are no nasty hiccups, & later accelerated to run home a thumping victory by 10 wickets, in 33.3 overs. Guptill was unbeaten at 86, while McCullum made 76 not out. Both batted with ease, as the Zimbabwean attack failed to make any mark.

Man of the Match : MJ Guptill for his 86 off 108 balls.
