Australia took on lowly placed Kenya at Bangalore, with an obvious plan of getting as much batting practice as possible. So winning the toss by Ponting, meant batting first, & almost everyone, expect Cameron White got some useful time in the middle. Haddin, Clarke & newly joined Mike Hussey, got good fifties under their belt, while others too got a chance to wield the willow. For the fifth wicket, Hussey joined Clarke in a wonderful 114 runs partnership, which must have given the Aussie camp a lot of confidence with their middle order line up. The final score was 324 for 6.
The target was too steep for Kenya to cause any concern to the Aussie attack, & soon the score read 36 for 3 in the 10th over. However, Obuya put a stiff resistance along with Mishra & took the score to 161, when Mishra unfortunately got run out. He made a brilliant 72 off 89 balls. Obuya was finally left stranded at 98, missing out on a century he so richly deserved, as the innings folded for 264 runs. Kenyans can take pride at fighting so courageously against the World Champions & not giving up till the end. The match ended with Australia winning by 60 runs.
The Aussies have maintained their unbeaten record for the 33rd match in World Cup now.
Man of the Match : Collins Obuya for his outstanding & fighting knock of 98 unbeaten runs. He had also taken 1 for 33 while bowling for Kenya.
