FIFA World Cup : Uruguay vs South Korea

In an interesting tie between South American giants Uruguay & South Korea in Group H, the Asian looked more dangerous & purposeful in the first half, though it was Uruguay, who has the best chance to go up at lemon break.

South Korea led by Son & Hwang were more pacy & combined well to reach the Uruguay defense at regular intervals, but poor finishing let them down. Their best chance was around the 35th minute, when Ui-Jo fired over the bar, missing an open net. On the other side, Capt Godin for Uruguay just before the break had his header miss everyone including the Korean keeper to hit the low end of the left post & rebound back - there was a gasp of relief within the Korean camp. Possession was evenly split by the end of the half, though initially South Korea looked in complete command.

2nd half also started at a blistering pace, with Koreans relying on Son to give them impetus, while Uruguay relied on dour defending & breaking away in counter attacks - in one such move Darwin Nunez sped through the left flank with Luis Suarez waiting in the middle, but his cross was intercepted in time by the Korean keeper Kim Seung. Edison Cavani was brought in at the expense of the aging Suarez to add bite into the attack around the hour mark, as both sides continued to attack for the ever eluding goal. Valverde almost found the net in the dying minutes of the game, as his effort smashed off the left post, & on the other side, Son tried to capitalise on a poor Rochet clearance, but all came a cropper, as the score line remained unchanged. Both teams would rue their poor finishing. It was a goal less frustrating draw as the group looks open for exciting times ahead.
