FIFA World Cup : England vs Iran

In an utterly dominant & impressive display of pressing football, England romped home against Iran 6-2 in opening their campaign for this World Cup.

Within 10 minutes of the game, the Iranian keeper Beiranvard in an attempt to save a Kane cross, clattered into his own defender Hosseini, resulting in an ugly bleeding blow. The patching up did not help much & he had to be eventually replaced. Iran did apply counter pressures for a while, but Three Lions nosed ahead through a Bellingham masterpiece & then Saka & Sterling added to the scoreline, all within 14 minutes of electrifying football, as Iran were staring into the barrel at halftime. Bellingham became the second youngest scorer for England in World Cup, at 19 yrs+, just behind Michael Owen in1998, when he was 18yrs+

2nd half had Saka add to his tally, while, Rashford scored within a minute of coming in place of Saka. Jack Grealish too joined in with a simple tap, while Iran netted 2 through Taremi - the first was a masterclass, while, in the dying moments, he added one more through a penalty, as the final scoreline showed 6-2 for England. A massive win, as all the front line players looked in fine nick. The defence though had its moments of frailties, as Iran did manage to threaten the backline, & could've added a couple more, but for poor finish.

Jude Bellingham was the star performer, running the show in midfield, running tirelessly around, notching up fine decisive passing, while Saka, Rashford, Kane, Sterling, Grealish looking very good indeed. This augurs well for the English fans ahead.
