Saina Nehwal...the teen Champion for India

Saina Nehwal, the teen shuttle sensation from India, pulled the biggest coup in her career till date, as she emerged victorious in the finals of the Indonesia Super Series at Jakarta. She had tamed the fast & furious World No 3 & 3rd seed Chinese, Wang Lin - 12-21, 21-18, 21-9. The teenager had been in the news over the last couple of years with her penchant for giant killing. This has been her third major title, following her win at Phillipines Open(2006) & Chinese Taipei GP Gold (2008). "Saina, breathes, sleeps, & dreams badminton", thats how her coach, ex India no 1, Gopichand describes her. Saina, the lone Indian woman to have achieved this title, has been winning against top players in the circuit over the last few years. her focus on the game & her dedication to the cause is simply exemplary. At an age, when girls are busy day dreaming, or giggling over something cute or falling head over heels in love, this 19 year old sensation has been firmly focussed on badminton. Her daily regime of practice is simply unbelievable, & we all believe that she can scale greater heights. According to Prakash padukone, India's best player till date, Saina's game is truly world class. Her control at the net & deceptions are truly outstanding.

Earlier women shuttlers from India, Ami Ghia, Aparna Popat, Madhumita Bist all were good players, but could not mkae much of an impact in the international arena. Saina, seems to have that passion & drive that separates champions from regular players. This win has taken Saina to the top 6 bracket & she now aims to be in the top 5 in the world.

Lets all wish her glory & success as she makes a name & place for herself in the World of Badminton.
