ICC World Cup 2019 - Bangladesh vs Afghanistan

Needing a win to stay in contention, a determined Bangladesh swept past minnows Afghanistan by 62 runs at Southampton.
Put in to bat on a slow track, Bangladesh posted a decent score of 262 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs, with veterans Shakib & Mushfiqur bearing the brunt of scoring & essaying solid partnerships. Shakib scored a solid 51 runs, while Mushfiqur gathered 83 runs, as there were handy contributions from Tamim getting 36, Mahmudullah 27 & some late lusty hitting by Mosaddek to get 35 runs. Afghanistan spinners were accurate & economic, with Mujeeb Rehman being the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 3 for 39, but Shakib & Mushfiqur ensured that they reach a respectable total, for their bowlers to put pressure.
Afghanistan, in reply needed a big score at the top, but barring Gulbadin's 47 & an unbeaten 49 by Shinwari in the middlle, there was little contributions from others. Rahmat chipped in with 24, while Asghar scored 20 & Zadran got 23, - all had a start, but could not capitalise a big one. Shakib was the wrecker in chief, claiming 5 wickets for just 29 runs, breaking the backbone of Afgani innings. He has been in rich sublime form this World Cup, now topping the batting charts with 476 runs, while in bowling too he's got the best World Cup figures - this has enabled him one more record, emulating Kapil Dev & Yuvraj Singh to have scored a century & a 5 wicket haul in the same edition of the tournament - he certainly is the best allrounder in World Cricket today.
With this win Bangladesh now have 7 points from 7 games & brimming with confidence to take one India & Pakistan in their remaining games. Afghanistan are still without a point, but gaining invaluable experience from matches here.
