World Cup 2011 : Australia vs Canada...

In a rather inconsequential match, Australia took on Canada at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore today.
Canada, won the toss, decided to bat, & surprisingly batted with gusto against the Aussie pace battery. Patel & Davison opened with a positive note & it was 41 runs in 4 overs, before Davison fell to Lee. Patel kept the big hitting on, as the score raced to 100 in just 16.1 overs. However, it was too good to last, & once Bagai fell at 150 for 3 in the 29th over, the resistance dried up. The innings which had shown glimpses of a fight, started to fade away & in the end, Canada was all out for 211 in the 46th over. Lee had picked up 4 wickets while Kreiza & Tait scalped 2 each. For Canada, Patel hit a whirlwind 54 off just 45 deliveries, which included three massive sixes.
This was too easy a target for the mighty Aussies, given the fact that Canada attack lacks bite. The openers Watson & Haddin enjoyed scoring freely in the middle & when finally Haddin got out for 88 runs, the score read 183 for 1 in the 29th over. Watson missed out on a deserving century, getting out for 94 runs in 90 deliveries, including 4 sixes, & skipper Ponting failed once more with the bat, as Australia romped home in the 35th over, with 7 wickets to spare.
This win ensures a quarterfinal berth for the Aussies, who are now unbeaten in 34 World Cup matches.
Somehow, I feel the Aussies are going to fail in one of the knockout matches ahead. they have yet not been seriously challenged & may crumble under pressure.

Man of the Match : Shane Watson for his 94 runs with the bat, & 1 for 22 with the ball. He is certainly one of the finest all rounders in the game today.
