Indian Cricket is coming of age !!!

With Sehwag showing us the way with a blistering knock yesterday afternoon, Sachin & Yuvraj have taken us to victory over England at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. Achieving the fourth highest run chase (highest in India ever), Indians would be cock a hoop in delight. The little Master notched up his 41st test century, & scored the winning runs (his first ever for the country in a test match). It was picture perfect for the Indian Cricket team, a ruthless professional batting display & the whole of Chepauk lapped it all.
Last time a similar victory was achieved was in Port of Spain, West Indies against the mighty world conquering team of Clive Lloyd, way back in 1976. That time it was again two Little masters, Sunil Gavaskar & Gundappa Vishwanath along with Mohinder Amarnath, who won it for India by chasing 406 runs.

From having dominating the test match from the beginning, it must be heart breaking for the English to lose the plot & eventually the match. Having put India to chase a near impossible mark of 387 runs, Kevin Peterson & his barmy army had been hammered to submission by Sehwag first & then clinically finished by Sachin & Yuvi. There were notable contributions from Gautam & Laxman as well, with the only blemish being that of Dravid.

While Virender Sehwag is redefining how to attack the bowling of an opposition, Rahul Dravid, seems to be going through the worst patch of his career. Nothing seems to be going right for him. He has been dismal with the bat, & his fielding has been less than ordinary. If he does not make a swift comeback, he might find himself unceremoniously chucked out of the National team. With youngsters like Badrinath, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Suresh Raina firmly knocking the door, time seems to be running out for the former captain.

In the end, Dhoni, seems to be really riding the lady luck….. four tests & four wins… can’t think of any better statistics to back up. To add to that is the T20 world Cup win & also the one dayer against the Aussies, Sri Lankans, England…..the list will continue to grow longer & longer…..

Mahi ve….tune to Dho dala……. Keep it up…..
